TalkThatTalk
First I would like to make it abundantly transparent that in no way is this meant to offend. I am no theologian, I am just a human asking questions for the sake of understanding.
Interpretation = The action of explaining the meaning of something.
Perspective = A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.
Belief = An acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists. And or trust, faith, or confidence in someone or something.
Let’s do some math.
Interpretation + Perspective = Belief.
With these definitions in mind let’s examine the following religious text.
I googled “What does the Bible say about love thy neighbor?”
The answer is what follows.
The Gospel of Matthew records Jesus' answer: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" (22:37-39).
I then googled “What does the Quran say about love thy neighbor?”
The answer is what follows.
In brief, Islam requires all neighbours to be loving and cooperative with one another and share their sorrows and happiness. It enjoins that they should establish social relations in which one can depend upon the other and regard his life, honour and property safe among his neighbor’s.
And last I googled “What does the Torah say about love thy neighbor?”
The answer is what follows.
Love thy neighbor as thyself – only if he is – your neighbor, i.e., virtuous but not if he is wicked, as it is written, the fear of the Lord is to hate evil (Prov.8:13).
Understanding that we live in a big world with around 7.9 million people who speak around 7,100 languages and also may embellish in one of 4,000 religions, one could consider this a very large neighborhood.
This planet called Earth is filled with wonderful human beings who are kind and of course only a fool would believe there are no other minds. True some are wicked, what about the most just trying to maintain. I was thinking the other day about these words “blame’ and “shame”. Thinking about the future and if a meta verse would control more than just how humans communicate. Look outside your window it’s so easy to see hate. Life and Death, Love and Loses is this not relatable for all of us?
I guess not, regardless why is so hard for you to just love your neighbor?
